Active Partnerships

We are a network of 43 Active Partnerships who are locally-led, non-profit, strategic organisations that cover the whole of England, bringing together people and organisations to increase physical activity levels.

Putting tackling inequalities at the heart of our work, we help ensure that everyone can unlock the advantages of an active life. A unique feature of the Active Partnerships is our independence, working across all sports, activities, providers and audiences, focused on the needs of their local communities.

Who we are

The Active Partnerships National Organisation, is the networks national charity, that exists to connect, strengthen and enable the network and beyond. We do this by influencing and shaping national and local place-based approaches to physical activity and sport as a driver for social change.

Why are you involved with Play Their Way?

We know that being physical active can transform children’s lives. We therefore need to ensure young people enjoy being active, to support them to lead happier and healthier lives and benefit from the physical and mental wellbeing benefits this brings.  We therefore are fully supportive of the CCC and are committed to working with partners and communities to ensure that the voice of young people is heard when planning, delivering and evaluating sport and physical opportunities for them.

We are in full support of the CCC and their aims to improve the provision of movement, physical activity and sport for children and young people. We believe that through the power of great coaching we can influence the sector to raise the bar of children’s coaching, reduce inequalities and provide more consistent positive experiences for children and young people in movement, physical activity, and sport.”

Shay Fenlon, People Development Manager Leap

We recognise the huge impact that coaches have on young peoples sport and physical activity experiences so Active Partnerships are delighted to work with the CCC and support the creation of a nation of child first coaches where every child has the right to play in a way that suits their needs. We hope that being part of this movement and working collaboratively with partners will help remove some of the barriers young people face, enabling everyone to enjoy leading an active life”
