UNICEF UK

The United Kingdom Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) is a UK registered charity that raises funds for UNICEF’s emergency and development work around the world, and advocates for lasting change for children worldwide.

UNICEF is the UN organization mandated to protect the rights of every child, everywhere, especially the most disadvantaged, and is the only organisation specifically named in the Convention on the Rights of the Child as a source of expert assistance and advice.

In the UK

  • UNICEF UK works with the hospitals where children are born, the schools where children learn and grow, and the services that shape their lives, to make sure that every child has the same chance to shine.

A global charity

  • UNICEF works with families, local communities, organisations, and governments in more than 190 countries to help every child realise their full potential.

Why are you involved with Play Their Way?

UNICEF UK believes that sport has the power to change children’s lives. Sport and play are a crucial part of every child’s life. By taking part in sport, children develop self-confidence, learn valuable life skills and lead a more active lifestyle.

It’s therefore critical that sport protects, respects, and promotes children’s rights.

UNICEF has been working within sport and play for more than 10 years to help make a difference. We champion initiatives that promote children’s rights in sport – supporting children to have a voice and a chance to play in an environment that empowers and supports them. We believe that voice, choice, and journey are the cornerstones of coaching practice that embeds children’s rights – their right to be heard, to play and to develop.

We believe that the Children’s Coaching Collaborative offers a unique chance to place children’s rights at the heart of coaching practice, providing coaches with the tools and know-how to really bring the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to life, for every child they support.
