ukactive is a not-for-profit industry body, comprising over 4500 members from across the sport, fitness, leisure and physical activity sector, throughout the UK.

ukactive’s central vision statement is to get more people, more active, more often and to improve the nation’s health by promoting physically active lifestyles for all.

Why are you involved with Play Their Way?

ukactive is a proud founding partner of the Children’s Coaching Collaborative, aligned to our mission of getting more children, more active, more often! The work of the CCC provides an important platform for reframing children’s coaching, and the environments and contexts that children and young people experience in sport.

The Children’s Coaching Collaborative is committed to putting the needs and rights of children and young people at the centre of sports coaching and the contexts in which they experience sports participation.

It is a false assumption that ‘sport is good for children’, it CAN be good for children (it can be BRILLIANT for children!), but this depends on the experiences that are created and the positive relationship a child has with participating. Our coaching approach is vital to this.

I am very proud to be a part of this movement and I look forward to seeing the CCC grow, raising the bar on children’s coaching across the whole system."
